Our students are also given the opportunity during P.E to experience new sports such as cricket, hockey, soccer and tennis whilst using our large astroturf.

We have a very strong chess culture at Te Whai Hiringa and thanks to Mrs Rice have participated in many out of school chess tournaments.

TECHNOLOGY

CHALLENGE

This year we had two teams participate in the Hawkes Bay EProp8 Technology Challenge against many other schools from the region.. This was an awesome experience for our students who had to design and create an invention with no assistance from teachers or adults. We are super proud to say that our Senior Team took out the competition and bought home the trophy with 1st place! Well done team!

MUSIC

At Te Whai Hiringa our students are offered the opportunity to participate in both guitar and ukelele lessons. We are very lucky to have Mr Love who comes every week to teach our tamariki how to make beautiful melodies.

ROBOTICS & PHOTOGRAPHY

A few of our selected students are lucky to be given the opportunity to learn about photography, robotics and even 3D prtinting. With Mr McKeesicks help these students have already built a remote control robotic vehicle and made their own rugby tees with our 3D printer!
