AIMS Games 2017

Year 7 & 8 Sports Event

After the huge success of the 2016 AIMS Games with our Peterhead Koru netball team, we are taking our representative netball and rugby 7s teams to this years 2017 tournament.   AIMS Games are a sporting championship that provides Year 7 & 8s an opportunity to compete as an individual or as a team against the best of their age in 19 different sports. The aim of the event is to provide opportunities for students in their intermediate years to compete at an elite level, be active, celebrate fair play and enjoy success. In 2016 there were over 9000 competitors and 575 teams.  Our Peterhead Koru AIMS team made A grade, putting them in the top 32 teams of the country.  After playing with amazing heart, passion and determination we finished 16th out of 120 teams!  UPOKO PETERA e ngunguru nei.... Au au Aue ha HI!  We are so proud of our awesome tamariki and look forward to the challenge again in September.

Known as the 'Giant Slayers' our Peterhead Koru netballers placed 3rd out of 116 teams!  This amazing team went down fighting till the very last blow of the whistle and were narrowly defeated by only 1 point.  They came back strong in the finals to secure the 3rd placing.  We as a school couldn't be more proud of how much spirit and mana this team displays while staying true to our 3 kete values.  You represented not only Peterhead School but the Flaxmere community with so much pride.

This mighty group of fine young men placed 9th out of 49 Rugby Sevens teams!  Being the first time our Rugby team has entered the AIMS Games this is an impressive achievement to say the least.  These boys were up against some very tough and very big opposition and faced the battle with warrior spirit.  Our boys pushed through injuries and fierce competition to take the 9th placing.  Awesome work tama mā!  We are so proud of you!

Both of our sports teams represented Peterhead School and our district with superb Manaakitanga, Maramatanga and Whanaungatanga.  Our 3 kete values are a way of life and there is no better place to display sharing, caring and belonging than in a team environment.

BELIEVE IT ACHIEVE IT!
